Our Aims
Our research projects are addressing important clinical problems and focus on innate immune mechanisms in relevant infectious and inflammatory diseases, simulated under laboratory conditions. While our general objectives are in furthering our understanding of clinically relevant host-pathogen interactions, our primary goals are to positively impact and substantially enhance the current diagnostic procedures, and to ultimately influence therapies and survival.
Central Questions
What defines and maintains immune homeostasis?
How does perturbed homeostasis contribute to disease?
Can we harness this knowledge for improved patient care?
