Volunteers

The Palliative Care Unit is also supported by a team of hospice volunteers. These volunteers assist with the care of our patients and their families and loved ones.

To carry out this work, volunteers must have completed training in ‘supporting life, dying and bereavement’ in accordance with the guidelines of the Austrian Hospice Association. The service is free of charge and all support is provided without payment.

Each hospice volunteer spends a few hours a week on our ward to talk to patients, go for walks with them, run errands, share experiences… simply to be there for whatever is needed at that moment!
