A procedure that achieves high cure rates, stem cell transplantation is an established form of treatment for many patients with haemato-oncological diseases.
For patients and their families, the outpatient preparation phase, the inpatient stay, and the rehabilitation phase after discharge are usually a significant physical and mental strain. In addition to medical care provided by our internal medicine team, nursing and psychological support are of paramount importance in the treatment and recovery process. Psychologists, physiotherapists, social workers, and colleagues from the Department of Psychiatry and Spiritual Care are available to our patients as needed. Multidisciplinary collaboration between all of these professional groups is encouraged and practiced for the benefit of the patients.
The Department of Internal Medicine (KMT) at the University Clinic for Internal Medicine employs a well-coordinated team of specialists; it is also a training center of the Medical University of Vienna for physicians undergoing specialist training. The nursing staff comprises approximately 50 members.
