Teaching activities at the Department of Medicine I focus primarily on training medical students to become doctors.
The aim is to teach the fundamentals needed for a successful career as a general practitioner as well as the basic medical knowledge required for subsequent specialisation in different specialist disciplines. There is also a clear commitment to kindling an interest in the field of internal medicine as a whole and the specialisms – oncology, haematology, bone marrow transplantation (BMT), haemostaseology, infectiology and intensive care medicine – practiced within the Department. Interesting and effective teaching forms the basis for targeted support and recruitment of young physicians for the organisational unit. Offered by and for junior doctors and CPY students, the Department's Internal Medicine Lunch continuing education programme takes place via Webex (see calendar of events).
The medical and scientific staff of the Department of Medicine I play an active role, both as lecturers in compulsory courses on the Medicine N202 degree programme (such as Block 27 Internal Medicine) and in clinical teaching.
Internships, tertial A (internal medicine), tertial C (elective) periods completed as part of the Clinical Practical Year (CPY), and dissertations can be supervised and completed at the Department.
