Mission Statement

The Division of Hematology and Hemostaseology at MedUni Vienna
located at Vienna General Hospital, is among the leading European
centers in these fields.

Our primary goal is to provide patients with the highest quality care aligned with the latest medical standards. Through our extensive research activities, we offer access to cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, often as part of international scientific study programs.

As a respected university training center beyond Austria’s borders, our department is certified according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard, ensuring the highest standards in diagnostics and therapies for our patients.

We collaborate closely with numerous departments within our hospital providing optimally networked, interdisciplinary care. Equipped with the latest medical technology, Vienna General Hospital also maintains high-level cooperation with various international medical and scientific institutions.

Our focus areas include acute and chronic leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome, multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia, chronic myeloproliferative diseases, PNH, mastocytosis, amyloidosis, blood clotting disorders (such as hemophilia or thrombocytopenia), venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and antithrombotic therapies.

The Division of Hematology and Hemostaseology is also part of the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) of MedUni Vienna and Vienna General Hospital. We are engaged in numerous clinical programs and research collaborations, including those with the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Hematology and Oncology (Head: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Valent).
