Clinical Research Unit (CRU)

Key aspects of Research

Head: Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Raderer

The duties of the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) mainly consist of two aspects:

  1. Caring for patients as part of the special outpatient units of this devision
  2. Coordination of clinical research at the outpatient clinic 6i.

As a result of this the CRU is a consultation place for a multitude of patients with various malignant diseases, whereby the main focus is on optimal treatment & care of patients with rare malignoma ("Orphan Diseases") as well as tending to patients after their well-established standard treatment, all in accordance with the universitarian-academic character of the Division of Oncology.

Along with the high level of clinical and scientific expertise within the special outpatient clinics, programme directorates and the additional opportunity for these patients to be cared for as part of a wide range of phase I, II and III clinical trials, the CRU cooperates closely with the other two units of the Division of Oncology, COU and TRU.

Furthermore, the CRU is also closely linked to other Oncology departments within the MedUni Vienna, such as interdisciplinary tumour boards as well as through clinical and scientific cooperation with surgical and diagnostic colleagues.
