The work bridges experimental in vivo models with patient‑based studies to elucidate how distinct mast cell populations develop, interact with other immune cells, and contribute to disease pathogenesis. A particular focus is on determining whether human mast cell progenitors can serve as biomarkers in lung diseases, with the overarching aim of translating mechanistic insights into improved diagnostics and therapies.
