Sebastien Talbot
Queen's UniversityUnder the mentorship of Dr. Réjean Couture, Sébastien Talbot earned his PhD in Physiology at the Université de Montréal (2012). His doctoral research focused on how CNS immune cells prime diabetic neuropathic pain. He then joined Dr. Clifford Woolf’s laboratory at Harvard Medical School’s Neurobiology Center, where he studied crosstalk between nociceptors and adaptive immune cells in the context of allergic inflammation.
Sébastien launched his independent research program at the Université de Montréal (2017–2022) and is now a tenured Associate Professor at Queen’s University (Canada), where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Neuro Immunology. He is also cross appointed as a Group Leader at Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) and is a Wallenberg Academy Fellow. His work is supported by CRS, CFI, CRC, CIHR, NSERC, NIH (R01, co I), and NRFR.
The Talbot lab integrates multi omics approaches with optogenetics, chemogenetics, and tissue clearing/imaging to build a systems level framework of neuro immune communication. Their goal is to determine how specific sensory neuron subpopulations shape innate and adaptive immune responses, and to develop targeted therapies that promote the resolution of chronic inflammatory diseases.
